BELONG DICKINSON

The new living and working initiative of The Alliance. Quality of life increases when individuals find community where they are united with others through shared interests. This initiative tells the story of living and working through the eyes of an employee by exploring employment and community involvement and the relationships resulting from feeling a sense of belonging when living and working in the Dickinson area.

PROCESS

INTRODUCTORY MEETING

The first meeting will be a conversation between the participant and MMH to get to know each other and learn about their job and community involvement. The conversation will be recorded (audio only). The audio will be used in the podcast and as voiceover for the video, in addition to structuring the story.

We will use the questions from the Annual Meeting Survey to prompt as needed. This is a conversation and not a formal interview.

We will talk about living here, the nonprofit they volunteer for/how they are active in the community, and what they do for a living to draw out what it is like to live and work here and how they have built a community.

VIDEO + PHOTOGRAPHY

Video Length: 1-3 minutes
Still Images: 10-15
Production Time Commitment: 2 sessions

Session 1 Video - Community Involvement

Showing the individual participating in their community activities.

The majority of the video will be produced as the subject engages in their community activity, as they should feel most comfortable in this environment.

Depending on the activity, audio will be recorded during the entire session to capture environmental sounds and organic conversation.

Session 2 Video - Workplace

Showing the individual at their workplace. Being mindful of OSHA, trade secrets, and privacy, we will keep this minimal. We also do not want to be too disruptive of operations.

A day in the life of... - the individual arriving at work, interacting with colleagues, and engaging in work (when possible).

To minimize the risk of showing too much, all shots will be medium-to-close-up and focus on the person working.

Session 1 & 2 Stills - Community Involvement and Workplace

We need environmental portraits on location and in their work environments. We will also be documenting the interactions between the individual, other volunteers, colleagues, the video crew, etc.
